21 Ways you can stop procrastinating and get sh*t done!

Procrastination is something we all experience. Trouble is, it’s something that can quickly become a habit. And it’s a habit that will derail your business success. People who are successful are people who have learned to tame that particular monster.

Here are twenty-one ways to help you boot it out the door.

1. It Gets Easier

If you’ve been procrastinating in almost every area, choose one task – preferably your most important – and focus all your energies on getting that one done. The sense of relief and accomplishment you experience will make it easier to tackle the next task. And the one after that will be even easier. So, pick a project (or even a small, specific part of one) and go for it!

2. Start it Today

Make ‘today’ the most important word in your vocabulary – especially if your particular form of procrastination involves goals that don’t have deadlines. Goals that don’t have tangible deadlines tend to be put off indefinitely. That’s why people stay in miserable relationships, don’t move out of their parents’ house, never go back to college, and don’t buy that villa in Spain.

Realise that no matter what long-term goal you have, it will never happen unless you make a concrete start today.

3. Reward Yourself

Every time you manage to avoid procrastination and accomplish a task, reward yourself. You don’t have to buy yourself a box of chocolates (though who would ever say ‘no’ to chocolate?) You can reward yourself in much simpler ways that are meaningful to you, like literally sticking a gold star on your bulletin board.) Or putting enough money for another rose in your ‘flower jar.’ Or even just posting on Facebook that evening “accomplished everything I wanted to today. Feeling happy!”

The reward that works best for you should give you a noticeable jolt of pleasure and uplift your spirits – even if just in a small way. If your chosen reward works for you, be proud of yourself and enjoy it!

4. Be Aware of Procrastination’s True Dangers

Procrastination is the enemy of excellence. It prevents you from polishing your work to its sparkly best. It’s the difference between enjoying the process and being proud of the work you do, and just scraping under the wire by the skin of your teeth. It’s the difference between a feeling of accomplishment and the ailments of stress.

Procrastination is not your friend. It is the enemy of your goals and dreams.

5. Turn Your Back on Excuses

Procrastination and excuses often go hand-in-hand, encouraging each other. Accepting personal responsibility and realizing that ‘reasons’ are often just excuses will help you shut the door to procrastination.

(Hint: Using an accountability group or partner will also help you recognize and bust your own excuses.)

6. Transform Your Thoughts

Negative thoughts and procrastination go hand-in-hand. Start reframing self-deprecating, blame-filled thoughts into empowering, positive ones. If your self-talk becomes positive, you will start to believe it. And after a while, as you experience the joys of successful habits, you will find yourself less inclined to procrastinate.

7. Practice Time-Chunking

Decide on a chunk of time – half-an-hour, an hour, or more if you think you can do it. Then stop multi-tasking and focus for your set time period on doing ONE task you’ve been putting off. Planning to work on a chore only for a short time-chunk can be a surprisingly effective way to deal with procrastination.

I like to create 'power hours' and they can even be broken down into 15-minute blocks of tasks like - 15 minutes to follow-up with last week's customers or leads, 15 minutes to schedule next week's Facebook or Instagram posts, 15 minutes of editing future blog posts. You will be surprised with how much you can do in 15 minute blocks.

8. Plan Your Week

It doesn’t have to be the most meticulous plan in the universe. You just need to spend less than ten minutes making a note of tasks you will need to fit in during the following week.

9. Start the Task Even if You’re Planning to Procrastinate

If you think you’re going to procrastinate, get everything ready and set up, at least, so you can start the task straight away when you return. Then start it. Even if you only work on it for a few minutes.

Half the time, you will find you just keep going, once you’ve actually started. And even if you don’t, you’ll discover a task that has been set up and started is much easier to tackle when you finish your nap or your game or close Facebook.

10.Chop Your To-Do List

Most people tend to over-estimate what they can get done in a day. If that sounds like you, reduce your To-Do list down to no more than three items (your top priorities).

Even leaving just ONE task on your To-Do list is acceptable: In fact, it may work even better than two or three. If you do this every day, your mind will start cueing you to regard that one task as absolutely crucial and it will get done.

11.Chuck Your To-Do List

If your To-Do list instills strong feelings of shame, guilt and doom that send you plummeting down the cliff of procrastination, get rid of that list completely! It’s not doing you any good—just reinforcing feelings of inadequacy and anxiety, and reinforcing procrastination.

Find a different way to prioritise (One that matches your learning style and doesn’t trigger anxiety).

12.Don’t Beat Yourself Up

One thing procrastinators are prone to doing is blaming themselves for being ‘weak.’ Drowning in guilt is a sure-fire way to invite yourself to hide.

Forgive yourself. Banish shame. Lose the guilt. And lose the label too.

Stop calling yourself a ‘procrastinator,’ and focus on moving forward.

13. Find a Way to Make Boring Tasks More Enjoyable

If you put off doing a task or activity because it’s boring, but you still need to personally be the one who performs it, look for ways to add a pleasure factor. For example, if you’re using a treadmill in a gloomy basement, install a TV and play beautiful scenes or energising music while you jog. If you are working on your taxes, eat chocolates (one every fifteen minutes). If you need to go jogging outside, do so with a friend or two (or more).

Adding a fun factor to a task is transformational and can really help ward off procrastination.

14. Join a Group

It doesn’t have to be a group focusing on procrastination – just on the activity, you’re having trouble making yourself do. Not only will other group members encourage and inspire you, but they’ll also help build your confidence too.

15. Try Working with Your Dog

If you’re lucky enough to have a dog, take it to work! Dogs can be even more inspirational than people. For example, if you are practicing a speech, practice on your dog. Speak directly to her. Throw her name into your speech a couple of times, and you’ll have a happy, captive audience – and suddenly the speech becomes less stressful and fun.

And if you’re trying to make yourself go jogging, jog with your dog. Much more fun. For both of you!

16. Take Back Your Power

People often procrastinate out of resentment – especially resentment they may not even realise they own, deep down.

Resentment comes out of feeling trapped. If this is true for you, figure out what you can do to reclaim your power in some way. Stop working weekends, or charge double rates to do so. Hire an assistant if it’s the work itself that’s trapping you. Change the structure of your appointments to make them easier on yourself and reduce burnout.

Identify what is making you feel trapped and take the right step to free yourself from that feeling.

17. Take Other Things Off Your To-Do List

When exhaustion and overwhelm are contributing to procrastination, take other, less critical tasks or activities off your to-do list. Do it immediately, then take a short break – perhaps a cup of your favorite special tea – and get back to the overwhelming task.

You may be surprised at how less overwhelming it seems, giving you the impetus to move forward again without the ankle-weights of those extra tasks or confusion.

18. Discard Perfectionism

People who are perfectionists are prone to putting things off. They become overwhelmed with the fear that they won’t produce exceptional results, but perfectionism doesn’t result in extraordinary results: Ninety-nine percent of the time, it just reduces efficiency and induces paralysis.

It’s important to realize that getting the job done is more important than doing it perfectly: Meeting the deadline, not letting down team members, providing what is needed – this is what to focus on.

If perfectionism is your problem, give yourself permission to let go a little and get it done.

19. Stop Thinking of Yourself

Sometimes we are so busy agonizing about a task, we don’t stop to consider how not doing it will affect others. Are we causing a ripple effect that makes other team members miss deadlines or have to compensate for us? Are we going to disappoint someone if our being late with a task means we have to cancel a much-anticipated date or outing?

Focusing on what it could mean to others if we hide from doing our parts can help propel us forward again.

20. Identify the Cause of Resentment

Are you procrastinating out of resentment? If so, stop right now and determine the cause.

  • If you are resentful because a client is unpleasant and difficult to work with, fire the client and invite in a better one.

  • If your resentment comes because you’d rather be on a beach in Barbados sipping pineapple drinks, realise that is up to you, then start planning that holiday and give yourself a reason to get your tasks done.

  • If you feel that you are “working for peanuts,” raise your prices. Knowing you are receiving fair or even generous compensation is affirming, boosts one’s self-worth and gives more incentive to deliver excellent value.

Resentment is often born out of feelings of inequality and powerlessness. Identify the cause, restore the balance, and get moving again.

21. Eliminate the Disconnect

Sometimes people procrastinate because there is a massive disconnect between the task they are facing and the goal they are working toward. Focus on why you need to do the work, what the possible rewards or payoffs will be and what its effect will be on your bank account, relationships, self-respect and others. Find the connection, find the value and it becomes much easier to stop putting things off that lead you toward your goal.

Procrastination is no friend to those who run their own businesses. No one ever succeeded through procrastination. So, make the resolve you are no longer going to be one of those who fall by the wayside. Find out your reasons, throw away guilt or excuses, and start moving forward today.

I’d love to know in the comments below, what’s your favourite or top tip for stopping procrastination?

10 Habits You Can Start Today To Start Changing Your Life

Living your best life means something different to every single person and it doesn’t have to mean having fame and fortune. Your definition may be drastically different from that of your spouse or partner, too, and there’s nothing wrong with that. What’s important to remember is: No matter what your dreams, no matter what your circumstances, you CAN change your life’s path by making small changes. These small changes compound over time to produce amazing results, without taking a tremendous amount of time out of your daily life.

life tips.png

Here are 10 things you can do right now, TODAY, to change your life and your level of happiness:

1. Figure out who you want to be, then plan the steps you need to get there. Do you want to be CEO of your own business, a partner in a top law firm, or volunteer of the year at your kids’ school? Every path requires different skills and knowledge base, so it’s up to you to figure out what you need to be the type of person you desire.

2. Practice habit stacking – or multitasking. If you’ve been meaning to read more but can’t seem to find the time, take the 10 minutes it takes your coffee to brew in the morning to read. Don’t reach for your phone; grab your book instead. This commitment is much easier because it’s not a lot of time and you’re already spending that time waiting for your coffee. Another example is to floss right before brushing your teeth. You’re already in the bathroom so flossing is the next logical habit to start.

3. Incorporate the 2-minute rule. Instead of committing to meditating for 20 minutes every day, commit to 2 minutes. Or add an extra 2 minutes to the end of your cardio workout. Relieve stress by doing some deep breathing exercises for 2 minutes. It’s much easier to do something for 2 minutes than it is to carve out time for 20+ minutes.

4. Make clear boundaries. Boundaries are necessary to keep us sane in both our personal and professional lives. Do you want to be on call with clients or your team 24/7 or would you like to handle business only during business hours? Do you want toxic friends or family members sucking the fun out of your family events? Consider who you want at these events and invite who you want, not who you feel obligated to invite.

5. Identify as the person you want to be. Use some adjectives to describe the type of person you want to be. Are you “someone who doesn't eat junk food" or are you “someone who’s constantly tempted by snacks”? Are you “trying to quit smoking” or are you “a non-smoker”? The same is true in business. If you run your own business, you’re a CEO, you’re a top leader, no matter how you slice it. Turning your description of yourself into a positive voice – and dropping the word “trying” – really impacts your mindset.

6. Find your community and join them to further sink into your identity. Surrounding yourself with like-minded people will help you keep that positive mindset; however, it takes more work to find that right community than just saying “I don’t eat junk food” or “I’m a success coach.” Dig deep, the same as you would to find your ideal client/customer. The term “coach” alone is far too broad; a “Healthy Living Coach” is better but you’ll really find your community if you identify as a “Healthy living mid-life woman Coach” (or substitute Mum for whoever your target market is).

7. Get back on the wagon immediately if you slip. All is not lost if you make a mistake. If you overeat at dinner time, don’t eat any more snacks and plan a healthy breakfast. If you skip a workout, there’s always tomorrow. You’ve worked hard to develop this habit so don’t allow all your hard work to go to waste because you made one simple mistake. It’s far easier to start the habit immediately than it is to start all over again months down the road.

8. Set a concrete goal for a certain number of days and don't break the chain.  Tracking your habits gives you a visual reminder of all the progress you’re making but make sure it’s an attainable goal. For instance, if you want to improve your writing skills and speed, consider a goal of writing 500 words per day for 30 days.  At the end of 30 days, consider tracking for another 30 days. Setting a goal that’s too large – such as writing 10,000 words per day – is overwhelming and can lead to giving up. Seeing your progress will give you increased energy to keep moving forward.

9. Choose concrete goals instead of abstractions. “Getting healthy” or “going to the gym” are not concrete goals; they are too abstract and they don’t lead to forming healthy habits. Instead, choose to do 5-10 pushups a day. You’ll still get healthy by doing this over time but the initial time investment is nominal. At some point, it will become second nature – a new habit, then at which point you can add another tiny habit to the mix.

10. If you start too big, don’t give up; make your tiny habit even smaller. So often we’ll set “tiny” habits that are still too big because we’re used to thinking of everything as oversized. If you can’t run for 15 minutes, drop it down to a time that is possible for you to complete. If you can’t get motivated to go to the gym, let your first tiny habit be getting your sneakers on. Then your second tiny habit can be filling your water bottle. These tiny habits are meant to become automatic movements that you just don’t think about once they’re ingrained. In the end, all these tiny habits build on each other and you will find yourself at the gym or running for 15 minutes.

Tiny habits are the stepping stones upon which we build our lifestyles. If something isn’t working to our liking, or we’re not living our best life, then it’s time to explore how to change our tiny habits so we receive the outcome for which we work so hard.

The 7 Laws of 'The Law of Attraction'

When we start to think about using ‘The Law of Attraction’ one of the universal laws (there are actually twelve others), we start to think of how we can use this to help us in reaching our business and life goals, we just need to take a deeper look inside it and we find a further 7-laws. Learning and understanding these laws can help us look at our daily dilemmas from a different, more philosophical or spiritual viewpoint. They can help us see the bigger picture, the higher learning of our soul’s purpose that we may not fully see while we are living with these issues or challenges. Let’s now break the Law of Attraction down into its seven sub-laws.

1) The Law of Manifestation

Consciousness is always a choice. It's the choice to bring your awareness to the present moment, the decision to see and prioritise that which is truly important. Being consciously aware of the decisions you are making and living in the present are the keys to mastering this law. The mind is the most powerful tool you can use when it comes to manifesting your desired reality, so everything you think about is going to reveal itself at some point in your life. And don’t forget, the LOA works both ways, so it’s possible to attract negative outcomes if negativity is the core of your focus. So, understand that you have the power to manifest your dreams and desires if you are consciously feeding your mind with positive thoughts.

2) The Law of Magnetism

We can only attract the same kind of energy frequency that we put out ourselves. When you understand that everything you have experienced up until this point in your life is a result of the energy frequency you release out into the world, you will see that we, as humans, are the actual magnets of our own lives. Just like the Universe, we are also made up of vibrational energy. So the Law of Magnetism reveals that it’s the energy frequencies we put out that come right back to us, like a magnet. And because the Law of Attraction is always working, the magnetic exchange that is happening all around us never loses its vibration in the Universe - it’s always staying in action whether we are aware of it or not.  This is why it’s important to make sure the energy you are releasing in the world is the type of energy you are okay receiving back to you.

3) The Law of Pure Desire (or Unwavering Desire)

When you are feeling like the LOA just isn’t working for you, it may be time to revisit exactly what it is that you desire. Often times, we get confused about how our manifesting powers work, meaning, it takes way more than just one positive thought to reveal the life of your dreams. For those who have had success in manifesting their wildest desires, understand that there was never a magic lamp or genie granting wishes… the power came from a strong desire. The Law of Unwavering Desire means that you are guided by pure intention, so, without a doubt, you have to actually want it. When you're driven by pure intention, free of fear, doubt and desperation you can be certain of a beneficial outcome. For your wishes to be pure you must genuinely believe that you are worthy of what you want.

For example, on the surface, you may think you want a million pounds or a huge house in the country. But deep down, your desires might actually look different, like having more than enough money to start a business or the freedom to travel the world. Making certain you know exactly what you want is the first essential step to bring anything into your reality. So, the desire you feel for what you want in life must be so strong for the Law of Attraction to work the way it’s supposed to.

4) The Law of Paradoxical Intent (or Delicate Balance)

Balance happens to be one of the key themes in the Law of Attraction. When we find balance in ourselves, we are essentially releasing the high-frequency vibrational energy needed for the Law of Attraction to work. That means showing appreciation and gratitude for what you already have. To live an abundant life, you must shift your mindset to already living one. So, to become balanced and at peace with what you currently have helps keep feelings of desperation and obsession at bay.

You see, feelings of desperation create the paradox that also has the vibrational power to push away the things (or people) you need to reveal the outcomes in life you desire. It’s one thing to want something, but when you become so desperate to have it, you are actually pushing away what you need to get it. Think about the appreciation that you'll have at the fruition of your goals and choose to feel gratitude for what you have in your life right now. You can get what you want by knowing that you don't need it to be happy.

5) The Law of Harmony (or Synchronisation)

Everything in the Universe is connected. That means you too, are connected to the Universe via many different energy sources. The Law of Harmony was put in place to allow for us to reveal and use the deep-rooted power we have to align ourselves with the energy flowing through the Universe. And when you tap into the Universal flow, you are granting yourself special access to what the world has to offer. That means more abundance, more creation power, and, most importantly, more of what you really desire. This is something that comes from within, so don’t forget that harmoniously aligning yourself with the Universe opens up your highest manifesting power.

6) The Law of Right Action (or Conscientious Action)

Did you know that how to treat others has the power to either attract or reject the prosperous life you are seeking? Well, the Law of Right Action reveals why actions really do speak louder than words. Simply being a good human, like choosing to do the right thing or lending a helping hand, will always bring more positivity into your life. Remember, just like a magnet, the honour and integrity you put out into the world will continually reveal themselves back to you in the same way.

Life can be hard sometimes, so it may seem easier to react out of emotion or stress, causing damage and destruction in your surrounding environment. So, as you navigate life, make sure to consciously be aware of whether or not what you are doing is honouring yourself and others. Remember, we are all made up of vibrational energy, the Universe included, so keeping your energy frequency tuned to that of dignity and honour will always work in your favour, even if you can’t see it right away.

7) The Law of Expanding Influence (or Universal Influence)

Energy expands in the world and has influence in your personal arena and in the world at large. You can and do have an impact on everything, from the productivity of your company and the harmony of your family, all the way to the peace of the world! The power of your own personal vibration becomes global by virtue of the law.

The Law of Universal Influence means just that: we have an influence on everyone around us. That means your family, your friends, and even perfect strangers are impacted by the energy you release. Remember, everyone and everything is connected, so energy has the power to expand into every crevice of the world.

Energy is powerful, so everything from the way you handle business to your influence in a relationship impacts you and the world around you. By consciously choosing positivity in your everyday life, you are creating more positive energy throughout the Universe. So be mindful and be careful, because every thought, action, and reaction influences all things and all beings around us. Every thought and every deed plants a new seed in the garden of our destiny.

Being aware of all 7 Laws of Attraction is a good foundation for making conscious choices, but you can't ignore the fact that the energetic vibrations of your unconscious and subconscious beliefs are really where you need to focus if you want to have lasting change.

Do you use the Law of Attraction as part of who you are and in your daily practices?

No fluffing up working from home here - what some sponsors may forget to tell you!

This is a bullshit-free zone…

Thousands of blog posts are all over the internet about different network marketing companies. So what actually happens when someone starts looking up different network marketing companies? What makes one seem more appealing than another? When you are looking up direct sales and network marketing on the internet, consultants can go on and on and on about travelling and friendships and about how amazing it is but do we actually sit and think “wow, that sounds amazing, that could be me?”.

Well,  I actually didn’t. I thought to myself the exact opposite and often thought “That’ll never be me, I don’t know enough people, I don’t know what they know, you must need to fetch in big teams to reach the top levels.”

So I decided to share with you what I would have actually liked to find as far as information when I was looking at ways to make money from home (which I never even knew was actually called network marketing and direct sales). You see, even though I really wanted to be successful at something like my own business, you really have no idea what it entails. Most consultants say things like, “Anyone can do it.”, “The product sells itself”, “The company is amazing”, and go on and on and on with everything positive about the company and their support. But what about the negatives? What about all the hurdles I might face? What about the emotional roller coaster ride?

Because I know it will come and I’d better be prepared…

I am a kind of “tell it how it is type of leader” and when someone inquires about joining my team, I ask qualifying questions. Why do they want to join? What is their goal? Why do they love this business? Asking these questions helps me figure out what they will need to be successful. It completely boggles my mind when a sponsor continues to send every single person to their website, has them sign up to join and doesn’t ask one thing as far as what the person’s expectations are and wonder why they never order and move their business forward.

We need to understand that people who join have different reasons and different goals. People who join our teams may not be just like us and are happy to just purchase for personal use and not even make money at it.

Some people join certain companies just for the starter kit and just for the discount. Yes, it is true. Now if, we as consultants do not embrace that idea and support those team members accordingly than we are either end up disappointed or spend far to much time in someone who has no intentions of ever going any further than buying a kit and purchasing products for themselves.

And so, I am asking YOU the person reading this...

“Why do you want to join the company?”
Was it…
A. For the discount
B. Part-time to earn a little extra cash come month-end
C. Full time to do as a full-time job at home and bring in a second income
D. BIG TIME to be the bread winner in the house and living your dreams on your terms.

Some people will join with one intention and then it changes. For this reason, I always reevaluate team members down the road to see what type of support they need from me.

I initially started in my own company for the discount and instant cash to help us out but a couple of months later I decided I wanted to take it more seriously, so focussed on building a team and coaching others how to make money just like I started with when I joined.

what sponsors forget.png

When you are looking for a home business, you really need to do some research and find the product that you are PASSIONATE about talking about with people and research the sponsor and training/support offered to you for the years to come.

Check out my own ‘DECISION GUIDE’ and find out what products would be perfect for you to promote.

I love the idea of people having their own home business and giving exceptional customer service. I love the idea of people working from home, being able to spend time with their families and watching their kids grow up. I love everything about home business but the truth is no matter what product or service you are selling, it is not easy.

I love the friendships I have made. I love the trips I have been awarded but guess what? I too was that person in the beginning that completed in the negative self-talk series and never truly believed my own journey would ever become anything more but my purse getting lighter because of my own love of the products, but how pleased I was to see that treating this as a business (and all the lows that came with it) and not a hobby, it changed everything!.

When a person comes to me and asks, “What does this business entail?” I tell them the truth. I am honest. I tell them this business will require some things:

  • Organisation

  • Using Social Media

  • Public Speaking

  • Leadership

  • Self Motivation

  • Self Starter

  • Go-Getter

  • Ability to handle rejection

  • Doing things you never thought you could do

  • Passion

  • Need to help and support others

  • Time to learn new skills

A person does not have to be strong in all these areas but these are the areas where I tell someone that they will need to focus on. Of course, telling a new person this may scare them but I always follow it up with, “the team and I will be there for you every step of the way and if some of these things scare you now…then that is telling me this is the company you should join.” You see going in the direction of fear is where we should be excited. Going in the direction of fear means with only 10 seconds of courage will magic happen.

I am not the same person I was 9 years ago. I have built up so many personal development skills, I am still shocked at how far I have come.  I am not concerned with people telling me they are not interested, it’s part of the job and it’s expected.

I am more concerned with telling as many people as I can about this opportunity so that I can change lives. Some will say yes, some will say no. Some will just fly and be superstars and some may never even open the kit, but my job as a leader is, to be honest when it comes to expectations.

No direct sales or network marketing business has a magic starter kit where a magical fairy floats out and books you parties with crazy sales or finds your new members lining up at your door to sign up, but when you find the right company like I did and you allow yourself to dream big, go for the no and believe you can be anything you want to be, magic DOES in fact happen. I am proof….and now, I want you to be that proof too.

You need to tell people all of the amazing things that your company will provide, but you also need to share with them what to expect the work that is involved. This may mean that they decide that your company is not for them, but better to have been honest and not wasted anyone’s time than to give a person less than accurate information to which you have to send out the search party for them after 90 days. My company is amazing. It is a consumable product, with an owner that communicates with consultants and who truly cares about us. She care’s about the morale of the company and she listens. and gives continuous recognition and she lets us know what is going on with the company.

But to be successful, consultants don’t just drop their debit card for £15 plus postage, open a Facebook page and then are suddenly sitting on the beach of Playa Del Carmen or suddenly transported on to a train ride with Mickey Mouse in Disney. You are truly a business owner.

It means you have to set up shop, open your doors and most importantly open your mouth.

You have to work your business, be your business and be proud of the products and opportunity you are sharing. That is the reason, it is so important you choose the right company. Do your research, ask the right questions and if you are sponsor, give the right answers. When you qualify people to determine exactly what they want out of a home-based business and you give people the right information, you have a list of go-getter team members whose goals include living their dreams just like you.

If you are still looking at starting a home-based business, why not download the guide below? It will break down who you are and what you love and will help you find the perfect company for you.

Stick with it, don’t flip flop from business to business, you have to give 100% effort to your main company for at least 12-months and then you can see what needs changing up - maybe it’s you and your skills, so then you would go out, skill up find a mentor and make working from home the best thing ever!

How to answer objections to starting your home based perfume business

When someone looks into starting a business from home for the very first time and perhaps don’t know anyone in that same company, naturally they are going to have some deeper questions and possibly some objections.

This is exactly what goes through our potential team members and preferred customers minds, so let's see how you would best answer these questions about starting with FM World, and remember, these questions would make great social media posts - just weave in the answer to a post answering the objection before it is asked…

Overcoming Objections

Q) I have not got any money to buy the kit
A) You really need this business then. Why don't you have a party/show catalogues and a few sample products around and from the commissions earned you will be able to buy a kit. There is such potential for you then. Or maybe do what I did, I had a massive clear-out and raised the funds on eBay.

You may also receive some perfume, samples and leaflets from your sponsor upon joining their team, this is more than enough to help you get started and showing to friends.

Q) I am really busy and haven't got time!
A) There are 24 hours in a day; it's about putting aside some time each day that will help you to get out of the situation you are in. I cut out daytime TV to make time for doing some FM promotion/work and now I'm seeing great results. Just an hour a day is all you need, this could even be 30-minutes in a morning and 30-minutes at night.

Q) I don't like selling!
A) Most people don't. With FM you can use the products yourself. Then just recommend them to family and friends like you would a good restaurant or film. There is no 'strict' have to sell with FM. How about building your own team?

Q) I don't think I can do this
A) It's free to register. Why don't you try some of the products for yourself? Once you believe in the products the recommending comes naturally. Then you will be able to share this opportunity with others.

Q) I have never heard of FM!
A) That's the exciting thing - the potential is HUGE!

Another reason is that FM doesn't spend money on expensive advertising; instead, we use word of mouth recommendation. FM started in Poland in 2004 and came to the UK in 2006. It is a fast-growing International company in over 50 countries worldwide with over 1200 products that are used daily by people.

Q) Why are FM perfumes not stocked at the high street stores?
A) FM decided the best way to move its products is through Network Marketing. If they chose to go through the high street chains there would be costly advertising, celebrity endorsements to pay for any expensive demonstration counters. We believe in supplying high-quality products at very affordable prices.

Q) Are the prices more expensive?
A) No, the prices of our fragrances are actually a lot less than people usually expect to pay. We don't have the endorsements and extra VAT's that high-street brands pay - we do everything 'in-house' and save a fortune by doing this, we then pass the savings onto you.

Q) I don't know many people!
A) There are 67 million people in the UK. You will be surprised who you know, just look at your friends on your Facebook and Instagram accounts, your mobile phone and contacts at work (a few people can lead to thousands of people). I am an only child and have no siblings or larger family, I also don't have a large social network of friends, but I still manage to order for myself and sell to a few friends via Facebook after they see my statuses. You just have to put the word out there and people will see.

Q) I don't think this is for me
A) If the business side is not for you, how about just being a Preferred Customer. You can place orders and have shopping delivered to your door at the wholesale price. The products are fantastic and you will save a fortune!

Q) I cannot make a decision now until I have spoken to my husband/wife first.
A) I can arrange a time to go through the marketing plan and opportunity over a zoom call or why not pop your partner into a messenger chat.

Q) It sounds like a pyramid scheme!
A) A pyramid is illegal. FM is not a pyramid scheme, the sponsor DOES NOT earn a commission from new members joining the business, we only earn from sales made – just like any other business. We have a physical product, pyramids do not.

Q) I haven't got time to go round and see everyone
A) You can get a replica website. There are many tools and websites to help train people from the comfort of your own home. There is so much technology available with FM. There are webinars, downloads of presentations and a full upline support team. I also don't go round lots of people, I work a lot of my business online.

Q) Some of the FM fragrances remind me of other brands, why is this?
A) All fragrances fall into the same family groups, you can't copyright a type of smell, and with over 190 unique FM fragrances, some other brands may well produce fragrances that smell like our ones.

Q) Is there alcohol in the perfume?
A) Yes, most fragrances people buy have alcohol in. The alcohol in FM perfumes has been denatured, so it cannot be drunk internally. In other words, if you tried to drink it you would be sick.

Q) I get reactions to some perfumes!
A) I can do a skin test like they do at the beauty salons. Put a small amount of perfume on your upper arm and leave it for 24 hours. See if you react to it. Would you like to give it a try? Some ingredients even in washing liquids can cause reactions, maybe you have an allergy to citrus, rose, neroli… let’s do a skin test and see which are good for you.

Will you feel more confident in how to answer objections now and answer them before they are even raised?
